Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he would be very pleased if the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) decided to expel Yerevan from its ranks.
"In any case, it would free us from the dilemma of whether to leave or not. <...> The charter provides for the expulsion of a country from the organization," his words are quoted by the parliament's press service, where he presented the government's program.
Pashinyan also noted that in the next five years the Armenian side does not plan to intensify interaction with the CSTO and return to full-fledged participation in its work.
In turn, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the Armenian prime minister's remarks, stressed that if Armenia has lost interest in participating in such a significant structure that ensures regional security, then it has the right to leave the organization on its own.
