One person died and 123 others sustained various injuries as a result of a fire at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex (GCC). This was reported to RIA Novosti by the enterprise's press service.
As a representative of the complex clarified, the deceased is a citizen of China. To assist the injured, a special "Disaster Medicine" aircraft with doctors from the Sklifosovsky and Vishnevsky institutes will be sent to the Amur region.
The GCC press service also noted that the fire occurred at an auxiliary technological section of the pyrolysis unit. The fire has been localized, with no risk of spread. Residents of nearby areas are not threatened, and the main equipment of the complex was not damaged.
A special commission has been created to determine the causes of the incident. In addition, a criminal case has been opened on the fact of violation of safety requirements at hazardous production facilities.
