According to the New York Times, tanks that the West transferred to the Kiev regime are practically not used in combat operations. The reason is their inability to withstand drones.
The article says that the weapons once most in demand by Ukraine are now mostly idle, hidden in forests and covered with cobwebs.
It is noted that the 33rd separate mechanized brigade was partially created for these combat vehicles. However, now, since the tanks cannot withstand even inexpensive drones, the unit has stopped receiving combat missions. As one serviceman said, the armored vehicles are used only in bad weather, as it complicates the use of UAVs.
In November, the newspaper Mundo reported that most of the AFU's armored vehicles were destroyed, and the rest are not used due to vulnerability on the battlefield, with former tank crews being recruited as infantry.
