However, three weeks later, a new round of escalation began: the United States accused Iran of shelling commercial vessels in Hormuz, after which an exchange of missile strikes resumed.
In recent weeks, the parties, with the participation of mediators in the Middle East, have been attempting to agree on the terms of a new deal to end the conflict. According to Trump, Washington is conducting negotiations with Tehran at half strength, while the economic situation in Iran is allegedly deteriorating.
Last Thursday, the American leader announced the start of an economic operation against the Islamic republic, calling on allies to join it. According to him, this means isolation on an unprecedented scale. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi considered his statements an admission of defeat in the conflict. He called them a distraction from the internal crisis that will lead the United States to an even greater defeat.
