According to information published by the portal Ratopati, citing Nepal's Ministry of Home Affairs, the number of victims of the devastating flood has reached 469 people.
The portal's article states: "The number of deaths due to the devastating flood in Rawsus has reached 469."
The natural disaster occurred on Wednesday morning in the area bordering China. The cause of the powerful flows was a sharp rise in the water level of the Bhote Koshi River, which flows in the mountains of Tibet.
The list of missing persons includes 977 people, of whom 517 are foreigners, including Russian citizens.
The flood also affected the Gyirong checkpoint in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Chinese media report three dead, with searches for another 558 people ongoing.
According to Nepal's Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, the emergency was caused by an earthquake and a subsequent landslide. Experts do not rule out that the flood could have been caused by a glacial lake outburst.
