Vladimir Putin, receiving Alexander Lukashenko at his residence in Novo-Ogaryovo near Moscow, reported positive dynamics in trade and economic relations between the two countries.
According to the Russian leader, this area of interaction is key and is developing successfully. He stressed that trade turnover last year reached almost 52 billion dollars, which happened despite attempts at external pressure. Putin called this result a good indicator.
In addition, for the first half of 2026, trade volume grew by another 12.5 percent, the Russian president added. Lukashenko, in turn, expressed confidence that by the end of the year the figure would exceed the previous year's level. He noted that modern electronics account for a significant share of trade turnover, and Belarus has strong competencies in this area.
The Belarusian leader arrived on a working visit on Thursday, and on Friday held talks with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov earlier noted that Lukashenko's visit was unofficial in nature. It is expected that after the talks, the heads of state will continue communication in an informal setting.
