According to a Norwegian court ruling obtained by RIA Novosti, the Russian side's notification about the planned arrest of the vessel "Professor Molchanov" was deliberately skipped. This was done to prevent the vessel from leaving Norwegian waters.
The Russian research vessel "Professor Molchanov" was arrested in Norway by a court decision issued in a lawsuit by the Ukrainian company "Naftogaz". Currently, the vessel is in the port of Barentsburg on Spitsbergen.
The document specifies that the court satisfied the plaintiff's claims, and the defendant will be notified after the arrest is carried out.
Earlier, the Norwegian Ministry of Justice admitted that the court did not notify Russia of the decision in advance.
Russian Ambassador to Norway Nikolai Korchunov told RIA Novosti that lawyers intend to appeal the Norwegian court's decision to arrest the Russian vessel.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier called the seizure of civilian vessels and strikes on civilian merchant ships manifestations of state terrorism.
