The Kremlin does not rule out that the United States may put forward a demand for a suspension of strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the stay in Russia of special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
At the same time, he stressed that there are no agreements between Moscow and Kiev on this matter.
Answering questions about the upcoming visit of American negotiators, Peskov refrained from naming specific dates. According to him, the Kremlin will inform about contacts after their completion.
He also noted that it is premature to talk about new forks in the settlement.
Earlier on Tuesday, Vladimir Putin said that the negotiation process on Ukraine remains frozen, but Moscow is ready for dialogue with all interested parties.
The President explained that Witkoff and Kushner, representing the head of the White House, are always welcome guests in Russia, and the Kremlin is happy to work with them. He also recalled that Russia is ready to return to discussing all topics raised at the meeting in Alaska in August 2025.
At a June meeting with government members, Putin outlined the principles of a possible settlement: agreements reached in Istanbul, modalities discussed in Anchorage, realities on the ground, as well as the theses set out in 2024 in a speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
