According to information published by the Axios portal, the American delegation that visited Moscow included Gene Lang, who is responsible for sanctions issues at the US Treasury Department.

The article says that Lang, who is the acting "sanctions czar" in the American financial department, joined Witkoff and Kushner on their trip. He took part in a preparatory meeting with Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev, but was not present at the meeting with Putin himself.

The authors of the article suggest that Lang's presence may indicate that Washington's restrictive measures could have been discussed during the negotiations.

In addition, as the publication notes, the White House also sent officials from the National Security Council and the State Department to Moscow.

The day before, a meeting between Vladimir Putin and US President's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner took place in the Kremlin. The conversation lasted three hours and ten minutes. This visit was the eighth arrival of Washington representatives to Russia.

Kremlin spokesman Yuri Ushakov clarified that the negotiations discussed ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, the successes of the Russian army, economic issues, and possible large joint projects.
