Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told journalists about the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump dedicated to settling the situation in Ukraine. According to him, the conversation lasted exactly one hour and was held in a constructive and very frank manner.
Ushakov noted that both leaders gave a positive assessment of the results of the visits to Moscow and Kiev by White House representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Putin presented an objective and thorough analysis of the situation in the zone of the special military operation, and also assured the interlocutor that Moscow has no aggressive intentions toward Europe.
As the presidential aide emphasized, joint work will continue, including on humanitarian issues, and the sides agreed to stay in touch. At the same time, the American leader spoke of the need to end the conflict with an eye to restoring relations. Putin, in turn, supported Trump's attitude toward constructive partnership between Russia and the United States.
On Saturday, Putin received Witkoff and Kushner in the Kremlin. The conversation lasted three hours and ten minutes and was already the eighth visit of Washington representatives to Russia. As Ushakov said earlier, the head of state gave them clear and comprehensive assessments of the situation on the ground, and they promised to be guided by them in dialogue with Kiev.
The next day, the American envoys arrived in the Ukrainian capital. The Kremlin reported that Putin ordered a halt to strikes on Kiev for three days to prepare and conduct these contacts. The talks were held in two rounds, with national security advisers from Britain, Germany and France joining the second.
