A RIA Novosti correspondent reports: Russian President Vladimir Putin is making a three-day working visit to India.
The head of state's aircraft landed at Palam Air Base, located near the capital. Russian leader was met at the airport by India's Minister of External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh. A guard of honor was drawn up by the ramp.
Between September 11 and 13, the Russian leader will take part in BRICS summit events to be held in New Delhi.
On Friday, Putin is scheduled to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following the talks, both politicians will jointly visit the international industrial exhibition "Innoprom. India." On the same day, Putin, like other leaders, will speak at the BRICS Business Forum.
The main program of the eighteenth summit starts on Saturday. The key event will be the meeting of the heads of state of the association. It is expected that the main agreements will be recorded in a joint declaration.
In addition to the multilateral BRICS events, over these two days Putin's schedule includes a significant number of bilateral meetings. In particular, he will hold talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed Al Nahyan.
In addition, the Russian leader will separately talk with the head of the BRICS New Development Bank, Dilma Rousseff. The possibility of his talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is also being worked out.
On Sunday, an expanded BRICS+ meeting is planned, in which Putin will take part together with other leaders of the association and representatives of BRICS partner countries.
