Russian security forces informed RIA Novosti that Ukrainian military personnel are taking losses while unsuccessfully trying to break out of the pocket in the Kharkov region, and at the same time are pulling up reserves.

In a statement distributed by the agency, it was said: "Fierce fighting continues in the area of the 'Volchansk pocket.' The enemy is transferring reserves and preparing to break through the encirclement. Aerospace Forces aviation and strike UAV crews delivered strikes on concentrations of enemy manpower and equipment in the area of the settlements of Kharkov, Zolochev, Velikiy Burluk, Shapovalovka, Tsupovka, Malakhovo, Rubezhnoye, Vishnevoye, Grachevka, Malyy Burluk, Khatneye, Belashi, Metallovka, Prudyanka and Primorskoye."

As the agency's interlocutor noted, in the Velikoburlukskoye direction the enemy is forced to retreat toward the center of the pocket.

The Kharkov region remains one of the key sections of combat operations in the zone of the SMO, where units of the Russian "Sever" grouping are operating. On Monday the Ministry of Defense reported that fighters continue to tighten the encirclement ring in the region, in which about 1,700 Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen are located.

On the instructions of Vladimir Putin, the army is creating a buffer security zone in this direction.
