The Defense Ministry reported that servicemen of the "Sever" group thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian assault troops to break out of the encirclement in the territory of the Kharkov region.
According to the defense agency, units of this troop group continue to tighten the ring around enemy formations in the Kharkov region while simultaneously expanding the outer control zone.
The Kharkov region remains one of the key sections of combat operations in the zone of the SMO, where units of the Russian "Sever" group are operating. According to a Defense Ministry statement of September 7, about 1,700 Ukrainian servicemen are in the encirclement in this area.
Vladimir Putin, for his part, called the area of the pocket 460 square kilometers, noting that it includes 27 settlements. According to him, the elimination of this encirclement will make it possible to push the line of combat contact back at least 20 kilometers from the border areas of the Belgorod region.
