According to US Vice President JD Vance, the confrontation between Washington and Tehran should soon move to a new stage. He said this in an interview with the New York Post.
"We cannot predict the future, but I think the president is right in saying that in a couple of months all this will enter a completely different phase," the publication quotes him as saying.
Vance claims that the first stage, understood as the destruction of Iran's nuclear program and armed forces, has already been completed. The second stage, according to him, consists of preventing the republic from recovering.
The nuclear program remains one of the key issues of the bilateral conflict. In particular, Washington insists that Tehran suspend uranium enrichment, as well as dismantle facilities damaged during the American operation "Midnight Hammer" in the summer of 2025.
In June of this year, the sides signed a memorandum that was supposed to launch the process of concluding a peace agreement. However, three weeks later a new round of escalation began: the States accused the adversary of shelling commercial vessels, after which the exchange of missile strikes resumed.
At the end of August, Donald Trump announced a transition to a strategy of economic isolation of the Islamic republic. At the same time, he did not rule out a return to military methods of confrontation. And Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi considered his statements an admission of defeat in the conflict.
