Voting has begun in Russia in the elections of deputies to the State Duma, as well as in other campaigns combined with them on the single voting day.
The first polling stations opened in Kamchatka Krai. Voting will continue for three days, from September 18 to 20. In total, more than 2,200 campaigns at various levels are planned. Citizens will elect 20,700 deputies and heads of administrations.
Voters can cast their ballots either traditionally, with a paper ballot, or by submitting an application at their location. At the same time, remote electronic voting will be held in 33 regions. According to the latest data from Central Election Commission head Ella Pamfilova, more than four million voters intend to vote this way.
In the new Russian territories and in eight regions with a difficult operational situation, special approaches to organizing voting are envisaged. Russians abroad will be able to take part in the elections of State Duma deputies in the federal electoral district. In total, 333 polling stations will operate abroad in 152 countries around the world.
Since August 30, early voting has been held in 37 constituent entities. As of September 16, 203,952 voters had already cast their ballots, and more than 14,000 people had done so abroad.
Ten parties are taking part in the elections of deputies to the State Duma of the ninth convocation in the federal electoral district: United Russia, LDPR, the Direct Democracy Party, the Greens, A Just Russia, Rodina, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the Party of Pensioners, Communists of Russia and New People. In addition, voters will cast ballots for candidates in 225 single-mandate districts.
