In a telephone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdymukhamedov touched on the topic of the recent State Duma elections and also discussed interaction between the two countries. This was reported by the Kremlin press service.
According to Kremlin information, Serdar Berdymukhamedov <...> congratulated Vladimir Putin on the successful holding of the State Duma elections.
In addition, the sides noted the high level of strategic partnership between Moscow and Ashgabat and confirmed their intention to further develop it.
The previous telephone conversation between the presidents took place in May.
The elections of State Duma deputies and other electoral campaigns combined with them took place from September 18 to 20. Turnout exceeded 59 percent.
According to preliminary results, "United Russia" is receiving a record number of mandates in its history - 355. The CPRF will take 40 deputy seats, the LDPR - 25, "New People" - 20, "A Just Russia" - four, "Rodina" - one. The final voting results will be summed up on September 25.
