Security structures told RIA Novosti that in the Kharkiv region two combat groups of the 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to leave the encirclement.
The agency's interlocutor specified: the enemy tried to exit the encirclement in the area of Chernoye on foot with two combat groups of the 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. According to him, the movement was detected in advance by reconnaissance, and massed fire damage foiled this attempt.
On Tuesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that units of the Russian group of forces "North" in the Kharkiv region continue to tighten the encirclement ring and expand the outer control zone. It was noted that the fighters inflicted damage on enemy manpower and equipment in the areas of the settlements of Krasny Yar, Potikhonovo, Buzovo, Reznikovo, Khripuny, Varvarovka and Grachovka.
In early September, the Ministry of Defense stated that in the north of the Kharkiv region the army had encircled about 1,700 Ukrainian servicemen.
According to Vladimir Putin, the area of the pocket is 460 square kilometers and includes 27 settlements. Its elimination will make it possible to push the line of combat contact at least 20 kilometers away from the border areas of the Belgorod region.
