In the northeast of the Kharkiv region, Russian troops are tightening the ring of encirclement around Ukrainian formations. This was reported by the Defense Ministry.
According to the ministry's summary, fighting continues inside the ring for the liberation of Varvarovka, Lobanovka and Reznikovo.
In addition, the military is destroying enemy units in the areas of Nikolayevka, Nefedovka, Kupino and Chernoye. According to the Defense Ministry, over the past day the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 35 fighters and an armored combat vehicle inside the pocket.
On the outer contour, units of the "North" are fighting for Prikolotnoye and Sosnovy Bor. They are also attacking Ukrainian troop strongholds in Khatneye and Fedorovka, the ministry added.
In early September, Russian fighters encircled about 1,700 Ukrainian servicemen in the north of the Kharkiv region. As Vladimir Putin stated, the area of the pocket is 460 square kilometers and includes 27 settlements. Its elimination will make it possible to push the line of contact at least 20 kilometers away from the border areas of the Belgorod region.
