Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow has taken into account information that NATO is developing a plan for war with Russia.
Lavrov noted that Vladimir Putin had earlier made clear what the response would be in the event of an attack on Kaliningrad region or any other Russian region. At the same time, according to the minister, the leadership of the North Atlantic Alliance assured Moscow that no attack was being prepared.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, U.S. General Alexus Grynkewich, is working on a strategy called "Theory of Victory" in case of a possible conflict with Russia. According to the agency, the document is planned to be presented on October 12 in Poland. It is supposed to explain how the alliance intends to act when hostilities begin.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had previously stated that the bloc does not see signs of preparations for an attack by Russia, but believes that European countries need to be ready for certain protracted "hybrid threats."
Putin has repeatedly emphasized that Moscow does not intend to initiate a conflict with the alliance, but Western politicians regularly scare the public with an imaginary Russian threat in order to distract attention from domestic problems.
