Axios, citing a source, reports that US presidential envoy Steven Witkoff and the US leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner may come to Moscow in October for talks with Vladimir Putin.
As the White House earlier told RIA Novosti, on Friday, October 9, Witkoff and Kushner will hold a meeting with the Ukrainian delegation. It will discuss a new single proposal that covers all aspects of the conflict and is aimed at ending the fighting. National security advisers from the "European troika" countries - the UK, Germany and France - as well as representatives of the EU and NATO will join the consultations.
In September, the US stepped up mediation efforts to settle the conflict in Ukraine. On September 5, Trump's representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner came to the Kremlin for talks with Vladimir Putin, and the very next day they went to Kyiv for a meeting with Zelensky.
Both the Russian and the American sides called these contacts productive and allowed for the resumption of trilateral talks with the participation of the United States. Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that Putin supported Trump's readiness for constructive partnership and by phone outlined the steps that Washington could take to end the conflict.
