US President Donald Trump said he reached an agreement with Vladimir Putin on large-scale supplies of energy resources from Russia both to the United States and to the global market.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: "Thanks to our complete control over the Strait of Hormuz and this remarkable announcement concerning Russian energy resources, diesel prices for Americans and, essentially, for the whole world will fall at record rates."
According to the White House chief, Moscow is ready to immediately supply 300,000 tonnes of diesel fuel, 500,000 in November, and another million immediately after that. In total, he said, Russia will supply up to three million tonnes of diesel in the shortest possible time, depending on the state of its oil refineries.
On the US president's instructions, the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control will immediately issue a temporary general license permitting supplies of Russian diesel fuel to the global market.
