Krasnodar Region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev signed an order introducing a heightened readiness regime in Gelendzhik and Novorossiysk. The stated reason is the risk of an oil spill after drone attacks on vessels in the Black Sea.

The heightened readiness regime applies to command bodies, as well as to the region's emergency and rescue services.

The RSChS will be involved in measures to prevent an emergency situation. Plans call for strengthening environmental monitoring and the monitoring of hazardous natural phenomena and man-made processes. Round-the-clock duty shifts will be introduced if necessary. The Azov-Black Sea branch of Morspassluzhba has been advised to prevent oil products from washing ashore.

Last week, the Ministry of Transport reported that a tanker flying the flag of Liberia was struck by unmanned boats off the Black Sea coast. Oil was burning in the water area. The vessel's crew of 23 Indian citizens was rescued.
