The capital of Ukraine has lost the ability to receive electricity from three thermal power plants. This was reported by the publication Ekonomichna Pravda.

The plants in question are TPP-5, TPP-6 and the Darnytsia TPP. According to the Ukrainian publication, it was these facilities that provided the city with the bulk of its generation.

According to Ekonomichna Pravda's forecast, Kyiv is unlikely to get through the winter without power cuts. In the most optimistic scenario, outages will last 8-10 hours a day. If severe frosts hit and energy infrastructure facilities are damaged, their duration could reach 20 hours.

Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky warned that the coming cold period in the country could prove harder than last year's. Against this backdrop, the Verkhovna Rada is introducing a regime of strict economy in budget funds not allocated to defense needs.

Last winter, problems with electricity and heat supply arose in most regions of the country because of damage to energy infrastructure facilities, and power outage schedules were applied.

As Vladimir Putin explained, the army began carrying out massive strikes on energy facilities in response to the actions of the Kyiv regime, which had set the goal of "crippling" the Russian economy. The Defense Ministry stressed that this is being done to reduce Ukraine's military-economic potential.
