Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia is ready to participate in balancing energy markets. He said this while speaking at the international forum "Russian Energy Week".
"We are ready <...> to maintain our role in ensuring energy security on partnership, long-term relations," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
According to Novak, the price of oil and products made from it is currently almost twice as high as at the beginning of the year. The deputy prime minister explained this by structural transformation and the consequences of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that every country is trying to protect itself with regard to energy resources, but global security in this sphere can only be ensured through cooperation.
On Friday, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump held a telephone conversation. After it, the head of the White House announced a large-scale agreement: Moscow, depending on the state of its refineries, will supply up to three million tons of diesel fuel to the American and world markets. For this, the country's Finance Ministry issued an exemption from sanctions valid until April 7.
The next day, the Russian government partially lifted the ban on diesel exports. According to Novak, in October Moscow is ready to supply 300 thousand tons of fuel, in November 500 thousand, and in December up to one million.
As Trump noted, this deal is needed not only by the United States, but by the whole world: thanks to it, diesel prices will begin to fall at record rates.
