Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on the reaction of the European Union and Vladimir Zelensky to the Russia-US agreement on diesel fuel as follows: if they consider this a betrayal of Ukraine, then this is already self-promotion and clowning.

The agreement on supplies of Russian diesel fuel to the world market was reached on October 9 by Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump. Trump then again expressed dissatisfaction that Vladimir Zelensky is not ready for peace agreements and does not want to stop strikes on Russian refineries. According to Trump, Ukraine needs a new leader capable of reaching an agreement with Russia.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak reported that the Kiev regime is not showing movement toward an energy truce and on October 14 attacked oil refineries in Saratov and Ryazan regions. Zelensky publicly expressed outrage over the Russia-US agreements on diesel fuel, and later stated that he had allegedly banned strikes on Russian refineries, but now there is no such ban.
