Dmitry Peskov, Russia's press secretary, said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that Moscow, Washington and Beijing acknowledge the hypothetical possibility of organizing a trilateral meeting.

A week earlier, the Kremlin spokesman indicated that a trilateral meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping, on the sidelines of the APEC summit would be very useful.

In early October, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov noted that Beijing should initiate the meeting of the three leaders if Trump confirms his participation in the APEC summit.

The APEC summit will be held in the Chinese city of Shenzhen on November 18-19.
