In St Petersburg, Vladimir Putin met with US leader's envoy Steve Witkoff. The topics of the conversation were the Ukrainian conflict, cooperation with the US and the situation around Iran.

The Russian president asked about the results of the previous day's consultations between the delegations of Washington, Kyiv and Brussels in Norway.

Witkoff described the talks in Oslo as productive. He brought to St Petersburg documents setting out approaches to the peace process. In his assessment, there is groundwork for reaching an end to the conflict.

Trump's special representative expressed hope that Putin would consider the possibility of resuming the work of the trilateral Russia - US - Ukraine group, where technical issues could be discussed at meetings.

In addition, he thanked Moscow for the release of American Stephen Hubbard. The Russian president specified that he is at Pulkovo Airport.

Turning to cooperation with the US, Putin stated Moscow's readiness to discuss economic projects. According to him, Russia can supply fertilizers to the American market in large volumes. The president noted that thanks to the diesel deal, prices on world markets fell by 5-6%.

Witkoff, on behalf of Trump, thanked him for this decision.

The Russian president added that he is interested in the United States' assessments of the situation in the Middle East.

Putin stressed that he would discuss with Witkoff a possible meeting with Trump in China.

Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and Russian Direct Investment Fund head Kirill Dmitriev are also present at the meeting.

This is already Witkoff's ninth visit to Russia. This time, the US president's son-in-law Jared Kushner was unable to come to the talks due to illness. As The New York Times wrote, the American negotiators postponed the visit to the country until Zelensky improves relations with Trump.
