The tanker Unity, detained in India and carrying Russian sailors, has been towed closer to shore. A relative of one of the crew members told RIA Novosti this.

According to her, it is unclear exactly how much closer the vessel was moved: there is fog in the area, because of which the shore cannot be seen. The agency's interlocutor also noted that, according to the forecast, a storm is expected in this area.

In addition, the woman stressed that the vessel is in a disabled state due to an engine breakdown.

In May, a tanker flying the flag of Cameroon was detained off the coast of India. The reason was a commercial dispute related to the owner's debt to a local fuel supplier. Since then the vessel has been anchored in the area of Paradip port. There are 23 sailors on board, including 21 Russians.

As relatives of crew members previously told RIA Novosti, in June the crew was forced to live on short rations, eating four potatoes a day per person. Since the end of July, the insurer company began helping to replenish food supplies on the tanker, but deliveries are regularly delayed.
