Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president, said that the question of expanding the zone of the silence regime in Kherson region beyond Alyoshki was discussed from the outset.
Earlier, US first lady Melania Trump wrote on X that the zone of the temporary ceasefire in Kherson region had been expanded beyond Alyoshki to allow the safe movement of humanitarian convoys.
The day before, at 4:00 Moscow time, the Russian Armed Forces stopped fire in the Kherson direction and introduced a silence regime to prepare for a humanitarian operation in the Alyoshki area.
Human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova specified that the regime will last until 22:59 on November 1. According to her, the main tasks of the humanitarian operation are to deliver a convoy with food, medicines and everything necessary, and also to evacuate people who voluntarily decide to leave the city.
The introduction of the silence regime was announced last Friday by Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. The White House then said that the agreements on a local ceasefire were helped to be achieved by the US. As Peskov specified, Melania Trump played a coordinating role in this. Ukraine supported this initiative.
Since that day, units of the "Dnepr" grouping have been conducting engineering reconnaissance and clearing the main approach routes to Alyoshki of explosive objects and booby traps. In a week they neutralized more than 300 such devices.
Alyoshki is located on the left bank of the Dnieper, opposite Kherson, which is controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Governor Vladimir Saldo emphasized that Ukrainian militants are deliberately creating a difficult humanitarian situation, and are also striking energy and communications facilities.
