During the first plenary session of the Russia-Africa summit, President Vladimir Putin said relations with countries on the continent are developing successfully. RIA Novosti reports this.

Putin stressed that domestic companies work on the continent on equal terms, do not pump out resources, but implement major investment projects. In addition, Moscow makes a substantial contribution to food security, being a reliable supplier of food and agricultural products.
The president pointed out that the role of African countries in the world is growing, therefore Russia insists on their more equitable representation in the UN Security Council.
Taking part in the first plenary session together with Putin are the president of Burundi, the current head of the African Union, Evariste Ndayishimiye, the chair of the AU Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, as well as leaders of states and governments of countries on the continent.
