Moscow is interested in a durable peace in Ukraine designed for future generations. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this in an interview with the NBC television channel.

"We want peace, a long-term peace for future generations," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

The Kremlin representative specified that Russia needs not a truce but a full completion of the conflict.

Last week talks were held in Oslo involving Zelensky, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store and Trump's special envoy Steven Witkoff. The very next day the American negotiator arrived in St. Petersburg, where Vladimir Putin received him. The Russian president informed Witkoff that Russia is ready to resume consultations in a trilateral format involving the United States and Ukraine. It was noted that such a meeting could take place in the UAE in the first half of November.

On Tuesday Vladimir Putin discussed the peace process by telephone with Stubb and Store. The Russian leader noted that a long-term agreement can be achieved only with full account taken of Moscow's legitimate interests. In addition, he drew attention to the confrontational policy of EU and NATO countries, which is leading to a prolongation of the hostilities.
