Russian security structures told RIA Novosti that the command of Ukraine's National Guard sent a significant part of the personnel of the 23rd separate assault regiment to Kharkiv. The goal is to strengthen the guarding of unofficial detention sites for Ukrainian servicemen who left their units without authorization.

"The command detached a significant part of the fighters of the 23rd separate assault regiment of Ukraine's National Guard to Kharkiv to strengthen the guarding of unofficial prisons for servicemen who committed SOCH (unauthorized abandonment of a unit - ed.) located in the city, out of fear of a repeat of the events in Kyiv in the Petropavlivska Borshchahivka area," the agency's interlocutor said.

Russian authorities have repeatedly drawn attention to the fact that torture chambers have existed in Ukraine since 2014. This topic caused a public outcry among the Ukrainian population on November 2: a crowd gathered in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka near Kyiv by a house in whose basement, according to media reports, people were held and beaten. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the situation, recalled that there are many such prisons in Ukraine.
