Strana.ua reports that Kyiv residents have begun blocking roads amid power supply disruptions. According to the publication, this is already the fourth such case recently.

On Thursday evening, Ukrinform reported that Kyiv was left with virtually no electricity and the city was plunged into darkness.

Commenting on the situation, the capital's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, acknowledged that the stable operation of the city's life-support systems is "under great question."

Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of Ukraine's Energy Research Center, previously noted that Kyiv's own electricity generation has been destroyed and cannot be fully restored.

This autumn, Kyiv has constantly faced prolonged blackouts. Because of this, the metro and surface electric transport stop running, and water and sewerage networks operate intermittently.

In early September, Verkhovna Rada deputy Solomiia Bobrovska urged Ukrainians to prepare for a difficult winter, leave the capital and buy firewood. Defense Ministry adviser Serhiy Beskrestnov, in turn, suggested that residents buy generators and batteries and stock up on gasoline.
