US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the demands Iran is putting forward in the talks as unacceptable. He said this to journalists.

According to him, the talks have so far not produced any particular results, since Iran's demands are not simply unacceptable - in some cases they are outrageous, absurd and completely unrealistic.

The diplomat also added that the countries are not currently on the verge of resolving the conflict. At the same time, Rubio stressed that the head of the White House, Donald Trump, would like to achieve a resolution of the situation through dialogue.

In mid-June, the US and Iran signed a memorandum intended to launch a peace process, but already three weeks later the sides resumed exchanging strikes. The conflict led to an almost complete halt in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Because of this, fuel prices rose worldwide.

At the end of September, Tehran proposed a seven-day plan to open Hormuz in exchange for the lifting of the naval blockade and restrictions on exports. Trump rejected it.

On November 1, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the envisaged deadline for implementing the plan had been cut to two days, and now everything depends on the American side's response.
