Chile will showcase a replica of the rescue capsule it used to evacuate 33 miners, trapped underground for two months, at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, the Nacion newspaper reported. The capsule is one of three identical Phoenix capsules built for the rescue effort. The capsule actually used in the mission, Phoenix 2, will be installed for public display near the country`s presidential palace, while one of the other two will be sent to Shanghai. "Today we will send one of the capsules to Shanghai, despite the fact that it would arrive only a few days before the exhibition`s closure," the republic`s vice president, Rodrigo Hinzpeter, said. On August 5, 700,000 tons of rock collapsed in the San Jose gold and copper mine, trapping 33 miners more than 600 meters underground. All miners were successfully brought to surface last week.
