Former Soviet national football team goalkeeper Vladimir Maslachenko, who later became a renowned television commentator, died on Sunday at the age of 74. Ukrainian-born Maslachenko, who played for Spartak Moscow and was named the Soviet Union`s best goalkeeper in 1961, suffered a stroke on November 18. He was hospitalized and remained in serious condition until his death. President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin expressed their condolences to the football legend`s friends and family. Maslachenko will be buried on Wednesday, his son told Sovsport.ru. The time and place of the burial ceremony will be revealed later.
