Thousands of Belgians took to the streets on Sunday protesting against the country`s long-running political crisis and the absence of federal government for months. Belgium has been without the government for 224 days as the politicians from the country`s Dutch-and French-speaking regions have so far failed to come to a consensus. In January, the country hosting the European Union headquarters broke the record for facing the longest political crisis in Europe. The previous one - 208 days - was held by the Netherlands in 1977. At least 15,000 people are taking part in the demonstration which has been called by five Belgians in protest of the politicians` failure to break the seven-month deadlock. The protesters chant "We want a government," "Separation is not for us" addressing the speculation that the country could simply break apart if no breakthrough is reached.
