The `Behind Closed Doors` hitmaker ended his five-month romance with the Spanish beauty in an emotional phone call on 01.04.11, reportedly claiming his busy schedule meant they spent too much time apart.
According to the News of the World newspaper, the singer told a friend: "It`s just not practical for me to be in any sort of relationship at the moment.
"I did adore Elen, she is so stunning. But the truth is, I just didn`t get the chance to see her in the end. It`s not for to ask her to put up with me being on the road for weeks at a time."
The former couple are also said to be furious at speculation that their romance was a publicity stunt created by their shared management team.
Peter told his friend: "I would never be part of something like that. We never did any work together as we didn`t want people thinking it was about publicity."
Despite the split, Peter has made sure it won`t affect his children, Junior, five, and three-year-old Princess Tiaamii - whose mother is the singer`s ex-wife Katie Price - as he didn`t introduce Elen to them as his girlfriend.
He told his pal: "They had no idea we were ever dating I was always very careful to make sure Elen and I wouldn`t sleep in the same bed if they were there. They only knew her as my friend.
"Until I`ve found the one I`m going to marry I?m not going to confuse them."
A spokesperson for Peter and Elen confirmed they had split but added "they will remain best friends".
