The 43-year-old actor - who is known for his action roles - has mellowed with age and insists he is only interested in getting on with people.
He said: "With age, you get to a place where you dont want to knock people out. You just want to give people a hug."
The `Fast & Furious` star also insists his tough guy image is just something he has cultivated to protect the more gentle side of his personality.
Speaking in the new issue of the British edition of Men`s Health magazine, he explained: "My mom used to say that I became a fighter and a scrapper and a tough guy to protect who I am at my core. This exterior means that I am actually one of the few people who can show love without coming across as soft."
Just as he is comfortable with the softer side of his nature, Vin believes a positive attitude can help make your life better.
The Hollywood action man - who has almost 20 million friends on Facebook - said: "I`m not saying you have to view the world through rose-tinted glasses. But there`s a way of living life that involves positive energy."
