The `Dreamgirls` star was taken to a New York emergency room after complaining of severe abdominal pains following her performance on `Good Morning America` in the city and according to her representative was diagnosed with food poisoning and released to recuperate at home.
A spokesperson for Jennifer said: "Jennifer Hudson went to the hospital due to severe abdominal pains. She was treated for food poisoning and released."
However, Jennifer had to cancel a planned appearance on `The Early Show` today.
It was revealed last week that the star - who shed 80lbs in just under two years - will write a weight loss memoir to help "inspire" others but she has admitted in the past she still finds it difficult to embrace her new physique.
Jennifer - who has a 21-month-old son, David Jr., with fiance David Otunga - said: "I`m still not used to my new self yet, so I`m figuring out who I am right now. Like, how do I want to be perceived? Who am I? Along with a physical change, it is also a mental change, so my mind has to play catch up with what everybody else sees. I haven`t got there yet. I go shopping and pick up an outfit in an extra-large or large. Physically I might be right, but not mentally."
