MOSCOW, November 8 -- Police have detained two foreign travelers at Moscow’s Sheremetievo-2 airport for trying to smuggle out large amounts of foreign cash, the press-service of the transport police department has told
"During pre-flight examination transport police stopped a passenger registered for a Moscow-Copenhagen flight. The luggage of the man, a Danish subject, was searched and 10,000 undeclared dollars found," the press service said.
In a separate incident law enforcers confiscated an undeclared sum of about 10,000 euros from a German citizen bound for Dusseldorf.
Both have been charged with smuggling under an article of the Criminal Code.
The press-service has said such incidents occur every week. Police detain 10 to 15 travelers for such offences every month.
