Chimpanzees living in captivity aren`t too keen to give their friends a helping hand, say scientists. In the study, chimps were given food for tasks. One option allowed a chimp only to serve itself with food, the other also gave food to nearby chimps. Scientists found the chimps tested were no more likely to press the button that allowed their `friends` food too. Experts think this might be because captive chimps are not as sociable as chimps in the wild. Selfish chimps But they were still surprised because the chimps had been living together in a group for 15 years. Chimpanzees are thought to share food in the wild.
