Have you ever wondered what an airplane looks like from the inside? Or even your digital camera, or the coffee machine in your office? British photographer Nick Veasey offers you a chance to discover the inner beauty of familiar objects.
Starting from October 4, Moscow`s Pobeda Gallery is hosting a display by this unusual photographer, whose curiosity launched him on a successful career.
In one of his interviews Veasey told how it all started. "My girlfriend`s father used to be a lorry driver. At one time he drove a lorry for a couple of days which contained thousands of cans of Pepsi, one of which had a ring-pull prize worth £100,000," Veasey goes on. "I thought I`d try a scam. I decided to hire an x-ray machine from a local hospital to find the winning can."
He never did find it. However, the venture made him curious. His quest to develop the genre of x-ray photography began at that moment.
With his unique approach to photography, which is, incidentally, somewhat dangerous to the health, Nick Veasey reveals the beauty enclosed within every conceivable object from a tractor to a flower, from an airplane to a pair of shorts. His shots confirm that true beauty is much deeper than the outer shell.
The Moscow display will feature 25 works by the photographer, including one of his most ambitious ones - the x-ray photograph of a Boeing 777. In order to create it, Veasey had to take over 500 separate shots.
The display will be on through November 13 at Moscow`s Pobeda Gallery on Red October, the newest hotspot for cultural events in the capital.
