The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine has determined holidays and non working days for 2006. Consequently, the official ministerial letter "On working time regulating for 2006" has determined that organizations, institutions and enterprises do not work on the following red-letter non working days: January 1 (New Year’s Day), January 7 (Christmas), March 8 (International Women’s Day), April 23 (Easter), May 1 and 2 (Labor Day), May 9 (Victory Day), June 11 (Trinity Day), June 28 (Day of Constitution of Ukraine), August 24 (Independence Day). "Glavred" agency informs, according to article 67 part 3 of Labor Code of Ukraine, if a holiday or non-working day coincide with a day off, the day off is postponed for the following day. Therefore, five-day working week will introduced the next shifting as for 2006: January 1 (day off on Sunday) will be shifted for January 2; January 7 (day off on Saturday) will be shifted for January 9 (Monday); April 23 (day off on Sunday) will be shifted on April 24 (Monday); June 11(day off on Sunday) will be shifted for June 12 (Monday).
