The 42-year-old star - who has two sons, Kingston, five, and Zuma, three, with husband Gavin Rossdale - doesn`t want to regret missing her kids grow up because she focused too much on her career.
She said: "I think what I`d like to do is enjoy these boys while they`re young - so I don`t regret I was working too much when they`re big and don`t want to cuddle me anymore."
As a parent Gwen - who lives with her family in London - likes to encourage her children to be creative, but admits they sometimes "horrify" her with their fashion choices.
The `Wind It Up` singer - who has her own fashion line L.A.M.B. - said: "I like them to be creative and have fun. Sometimes they`ll get dressed and it`s horrifying. But they often come out in outfits that are awesome."
Although Gwen - who is also the lead singer of band No Doubt - is famed for her outrageous on stage outfits and fashion creations, she isn`t prepared to be as experimental with her trademark blonde hair.
In an interview with the new issue of InStyle magazine, she revealed: "You know, I was a redhead once. Right after we came home from the first No Doubt tour I felt like I might get recognised, so I coloured my red hair, and I hated it."
And hair is not the only thing that Gwen likes to stay the same - her lipstick also tends to be of one shade.
She said: "When I was 17, my grandmother got me a gift pack with all these different coloured lipsticks, and one of them was burgundy.
"I tried it on and looked in the rear-view mirror and said, `That looks good.` I`ve worn it ever since."
