The `Cougar Town` actress - who split from the star in 2010 after 11 years of marriage - explained "no matter what" happens in the future, the pair have vowed to always be close. She said: "He`s my best friend. No matter what happens in our future, he`s my very best friend." Despite the former couple`s close relationship, Courteney - who runs production company Coquette Productions alongside David - insists new show `Ten Year` is "not really" about their marriage, even though there are a number of stark similarities. She told People.com: "We sold one show, `Ten Year`, about a couple who separated after 10 years of marriage. "It`s not really about David and me, but it`s something we related to and we thought we should tell a story about people who could actually get along after being separated. It`s telling a different version." Courteney - who has a seven-year-old daughter, Coco, with David - previously admitted the couple are "closer than ever" following their split. She explained: "The great thing is that even though we are separated, David and I are still so close. We`re able to talk through everything that happens, so I know that we`re often both feeling the same way and that makes me feel less alone. "In some ways, we`re closer than ever because we`re communicating more than we ever have."
