The 28-year-old supermodel - who tied the knot with 41-year-old comic David Walliams in May 2010 after eight months of dating - admits her former hard-partying ways meant many of her pals never expected she would settle down.
She said: "My friends still make fun of me for being wed.
"They find it so hard to believe. Even four years back they wouldn`t have expected it. It was quite unexpected, but it has made me happy. I feel secure. It`s really calming somehow.
"We both have such random jobs, it is not mundane. He doesn`t go to the office while I cook him dinner, so I don`t feel like I have to be too grown up about the whole thing."
Although she and David are very happy together, Lara isn`t ready to have children just yet - because she and her spouse are so smitten with their dog Bert, who the `Little Britain` star gave to his wife in February.
She admitted to the Sunday Times Style magazine: "I`d like to have a family. Well, I thought I really wanted to but then we got Bert.
"I know people with children are going to hate me, but he has filled a void, that instinctive `I have to take care of something` feeling. I was quite broody, but now I take care of Bert and it has settled the broody thing for the moment."
When she finally quits modelling, Lara already knows what she wants to do next.
She said: "I`d like to have my own burger place. I` going to call it Lara`s Baps and Buns. There`s not a proper, good cafe here. I want a good chips place. They`re all too fancy."
