Correspondents of federal mass media sent a petition to Ulyanovsk governor Sergey Morozov in which they ask not to let liquidation of regional cardio-surgical department. Department will be closed on January 8, 2006, because of problems with financing. For normal work center demands 30 millions of rubles annually and only 2.6 millions are given by regional medical insurance fund. In opinion of petition, liquidation of cardiosurgery department will have serious consequences. Annually 300-500 children with congenital heart pathologies are born in Ulyanovsk region. Meanwhile equipment and specialists of Ulyanovsk cardiosurgery allow almost all heart surgeries. At present moment department conducts 95 surgeries per year though this characteristic can be twice increased. Moreover, more than 5000 citizens of region wait for heart surgery, about 2000 of them are children. The only limitation is lack of financing. In opinion of delegate Alexander Kruglikov, money for department maintenance can be found if expanses on officials` salary are increased. By his data, expanses on regional authorities increase by 100 millions of rubles since 2006.
