In the view of water pollution danger emergency situation regime is introduced in Habaravsk krai. This was announced by first deputy of regional administration head Vladimir Popov. By his words, despite of the fact that Chinese side doesn`t tell the composition of substance, which polluted Sungari river; there is no need for panic. Popov noted that water can freeze not reaching Habarovsk. He noted that heat and hot water supply will be at normal regime. There are storage of 50 thousands tons of clean water and 60 special automobiles, that are ready in case of cold water supply turning off to deliver water to population, hospitals and other specialized organizations. Meanwhile there was information that Habarovsk citizens were warned about water supply turning off since November 30 till December 4. As a reminder, on November 13 at chemical plant in Chinese town Czilin an accident occurred. As a result an emission of large amount of toxic substances, including benzene, which got to Sungari river, happened. A territory of polluted water with length 80 kilometers drifts down the stream of Sungari river. In the view of that in Harbin, the largest city of north-eastern China, water supply was turned off for 4 days. Russian side looks after spread of toxic spot over Chinese Sungari river from satellites. By words of Far East institute of water and ecologic problems, declared speed of toxic "spot" spread over Sungari - 100 kilometers per day - is increased. In reality this rate doesn`t exceed 60-80 kilometers. In opinion of scientist, the extent of polluted region "will amount to 200-300 kilometers", therefore, time of spot movement past Habarovsk will increase. Ecologic monitoring at place of Sungari and Amur rivers junction will help to reveal concentrations of pollution in Sungari and estimate concentrations in Amur river. Voronov noted that serious threats for water ecosystems can be caused by imbibition of benzene and other chemicals to ice. As a result there will be a complicated situation in spring at all length of river, and therefore, death of fish.
