The meeting of top finance ministers of countries members of G7 finished on Saturday in London. Delegations from Brazil, India, China, Russia and the SAR were presented at the meeting. Moreover, finance ministers of Israel and Palestine were invited to the talks, informs Reuters. Russian Finance department was presented by Sergei Storchak. He declared the support for projects concerning development of economic situation in Palestine, and reported about allotment a grant of one million dollars to support Wolfensohn’s mission. Though Russia is to chair the G8 the next year, only two of four G8 meetings will be held on the territory of Russia. It was assumed that in February the G8 representatives should gather in Moscow for a meeting without Central banks top managers, in April they are to meet in Washington, and then in Petersburg and Singapore. However, Moscow meeting appeared to be in question. In London meeting communiquÊ Washington is appointed as the next meeting place. Moreover, the main subject of the meeting appeared to be not Russian chairmanship but a farewell to Alan Greenspan, who is retiring after 18 years as U.S. central bank chief. The top manager of the Bank of Great Britain presented him a red "budget case", which is traditionally used for submitting budget project to the Parliament, and the Queen granted him the title of a free citizen of London City, with the right to drive sheep through London Bridge. Almost at the same time the International conference on Russian Chairmanship in G8 took place in Great Britain. Its participants severely criticized Russia for the draft on non-commercial organizations, and expressed anxiety on closer collaboration between Russia and China. The idea was expressed on the conference, that this draft, being approved, may deprive Russia of necessary elements of civil society.
